The Festival of the Constitution of the 6th and the Feast of the Immaculate Conception begin in Seville on the 8th of December, thus starting the Christmas festivities which, together with the illumination, becomes one of the main engines of the tourist activity of these dates.

The Feast of the Immaculate Conception is one of the most celebrated in Seville and brings with it many traditions, the oldest of all is the dance of the Sixes that takes place in the Cathedral of the city.

Los Seises is a group of 10 children who perform a sacred dance in front of the Blessed Sacrament.
Its origins date back to Renaissance times: when the doors of the old mosque-cathedral were opened to worship, after the reconquest of the city by King San Fernando, there was a choir organized by children for the solemn liturgy.
The choir used to be composed of 4 to 10 children and ended up generalizing the number to six, which is why they were called "six".

You can attend free of charge every afternoon from 8 to 15 December from 17:30 (opening of doors 16:45).

The vigil of the night of the Immaculate Conception arose in the middle of the 20th century, and during its celebration, in the monument to the Immaculate Conception of the Plaza del Triunfo, the Sevillian university tunas sing the night of Thursday 7 to Friday 8 December.
It is a group of university students who interpret themes of Spanish folklore and are characterized, among other aspects, by wearing the university's ancient clothing.

Finally, as relevant data, this year is celebrated the Murillo Year, in commemoration of the 400th anniversary of the birth of the Sevillian painter, who made the most famous representations of the Immaculate Conception and that can be visited in the Museum of Fine Arts.
Seville will have various activities throughout the following year also to meet and understand the figure of the artist.
